We are preparing for the future, expanding our retail channels to include new media platforms, such as digital cable TV, IPTV (internet protocol TV), smartphones, and tablet PCs.
The annual transaction amount for our three key channels—TV, internet, mail-order catalog—amount to 1,890.9 billion won (as of 2009). TV home shopping accounts for some 60% of our total sales, while online shopping and catalog shopping make up around 30% and 10% of our total sales, respectively. GSHS boasts the highest market share in Korea in each of these three business areas.
GSHS has our own call center and logistics center. Through our strategic partnership with Korea’s top door-to-door parcel delivery service provider, we provide high-quality shipping services

In apparel and beauty, GSHS possesses a diverse lineup of private brands developed in collaboration with our partner vendors.
GSHS is the exclusive distributor of some of our key partner vendors, including LG Household & Healthcare, AMORE PACIFIC, and the premium U.S. cosmetics brand CELLEX-C.
TV Home Shopping
GSHS was the first company to introduce TV home shopping to Korean consumers. Every day, we provide 24-hour programming (20 hours of live programming) to 15 million cable TV households and 2.5 million satellite TV households. GSHS boasts a highly discriminating product selection process, stringent quality control, streamlined shipping system, and exceptional customer service. With the largest domestic market share and the third largest sales revenue (1: QVC [USA], 2: HSN [USA]) in the global multimedia retail market, GSHS is recognized as one of the foremost multimedia retailers in the world.
GSHS showcases some 160 products every week via our TV home shopping programming. Our selection of merchandise includes tangible products, such as digital appliances, beauty products, and fashion apparel, as well as intangible products, such as insurance plans and travel packages.
GSHS’s live programming is supported by 36 shopping hosts with diverse professional experiences. Each host is in charge of about 7-8 hours broadcasting hours over 5-6 days per week. Our hosts always try out the products and analyze their merits and drawbacks before going on air. They receive real-time customer questions and feedback and address them during live broadcasts.
GSHS was the first in the Korean multimedia retailer to set up a broadcasting center designed specifically for TV home shopping programming. Our broadcasting center is equipped with four studios.

Internet Shopping
GSHS runs Korea’s top internet shopping mall GS SHOP (www.gsshop.com) as well as d&shop (www.dnshop.com), a GSHS subsidiary. GS SHOP currently has 11.4 million members and 800,000 unique visitors daily. The online mall offers some 800,000 products and records some 30,000 purchases per day.
GS SHOP enjoys a high level of consumer confidence with some of the best customer service features in the industry, including a call center that is open around the clock, a 3-day guarantee for deliveries and pickups, and compensation programs for delayed shipping and out-of-stock merchandise. GS SHOP caters to diverse customer needs through specialized shops. At Plein, GS SHOP customers have access to overseas merchandise unavailable in Korea through overseas shopping agents, while ditto, GS SHOP's thematic approach to shopping, showcases product-related stories in line with changing weekly and monthly themes. GS Insurance Shop, in the meantime, allows customers to design their own insurance plans.
GS SHOP operates a customer loyalty program based on the number and amount of purchases.
Catalog Shopping
GSHS’s mail-order catalog is Korea’s leading shopping magazine. The magazine-format catalog of some 2,000 products is delivered by mail to 2 million households every month.
The featured products include hit TV home shopping and online items as well as merchandise offered exclusively via the catalog.
GSHS also publishes the bimonthly premium catalog ‘The Scarlett’ for VIP customers. ‘The Scarlett’ features products from famous global designer labels as well as masstige merchandise.
New Media Shopping
GSHS offers interactive TV home shopping (T-Commerce) services that integrate TV home shopping and online shopping via digital broadcasting platforms, such as digital cable TV and IPTV (internet protocol television). The existing TV home shopping process involves a one-way delivery of information from the provider and phone orders placed by the user. In contrast, T-Commerce provides a one-stop shopping experience, enabling customers to search products, place orders, and check the shipment status on TV using nothing but the television remote control.
GSHS also provides iPhone and Android applications. Smartphone users can browse the entire GSHS product selection and make purchases on their phones. GSHS also launched the mobile website m.gsshop.com, extending the GSHS shopping experience to the mobile platform.
Customer Service
GSHS operates a 24-hour customer service center. Our customer service representatives work around-the-clock to provide a more convenient shopping experience. GSHS customers can choose from a wide array of payment options, including wire transfers, credit cards, online deposits, gift certificates, and cash-back points. We offer free shipping and an SMS notification service alerting our customers when their orders ship. GSHS runs a compensation program for delayed shipping. We accept returns 15-30 days (depending on the product) from the purchase date and process refunds even before we pick up the returned merchandise.
GSTS (Call Center)
GSHS’s call center operations are handled by GS Teleservice (GSTS), a GSHS subsidiary. GSTS operates two call centers, one in Seoul (900 customer service representatives) and one in Busan (300 customer service representatives). The two centers combined process an average of over 50,000 orders and inquiries per day.
GSHS Logistics Center
The GSHS Logistics Center in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do is a 22,900m2 (floor area) facility situated on 46,400m2 of land. The center’s main function is to store GSHS merchandise and promptly process them so that they are delivered within 1-2 days upon the order date. The GSHS Logistics Center is equipped with a cross-docking system that enables products to be shipped immediately upon arrival. It also operates packing and packaging services for manufacturers and vendors.
The GSHS Logistics Center has a maximum storage capacity of 327,000 boxes. The center’s key equipment include the following: 1) Auto sorter, which automatically sorts 6,000 boxes per hour for distribution to 20 domestic destinations, 2) Hanger line for clothing, 3) Cubic scanner, which simulates optimal storage arrangements, 4) Telescopic conveyor, which can be extended to reach into large shipping containers to facilitate the movement of cargo, and 5) DAS (digital assortment system), which identifies multiple orders going to a single customer to enable bundled shipping.
Global
GSHS is ready to draw on our extensive domestic experiences and accumulated knowledge and expertise in TV home shopping and electronic commerce to contribute to the growth of multimedia retail industries in emerging markets.
In November 2009, GSHS acquired a 15% equity stake in the Indian 24-hour home shopping network HomeShop18, becoming HomeShop18 third largest shareholder. It has proven to be a win-win arrangement, allowing HomeShop18 to benefit from our TV home shopping expertise and GSHS to learn about the Indian market and consumers.
GSHS has also taken its first step into the Southeastern Asian market.
In May 2011, the company established 'TrueGS', a home shopping joint venture in Thailand, together with local media company True Visions, local retail company The Mall Group, and local convenient store chain operator CP All. The home shopping operation was subsequently launched in October under channel name True Select, and currently the channel broadcasts Korean-style home shopping shows and reaches 8 million households in Thailand including Bangkok metro area and major cities such as Chiang Mai, Udon Thani and Surat Thani.
In February 2012, GS SHOP entered Vietnam home shopping market by investing in ‘ViVi Home Shopping (Corporate Name : ViVi Media Trading Corporation).’ ViVi Home Shopping was established by Vision21, a subsidiary of ‘SonKim Group,’ a prominent player in Vietnam fashion industry, and is growing into a donimant home shopping company after crossing breakeven within 1 year of operation. GS SHOP has solidified its partnership with SonKim Group by supporting ViVi Home Shopping since its establishment, and now is closely cooperating with ViVi Home Shopping as the 2nd largest shareholder to help it become the best home shopping company in Vietnam.
In April 2012, GS SHOP entered China by signing a share subscription and management cooperation agreements with China Home Shopping Group. By entering China, GS SHOP has established the ‘Asia Home Shopping Belt,’ connecting its existing operations in India, Thailand and Vietnam. GS SHOP plans to increase the synergy among its overseas locations by utilizing China, the largest manufacturer of the world, as the product sourcing base to develop and supply products for Korea, India, Thailand, Vietnam and future locations.
